Gospel Fest

By Tiffany Huggins on February 15, 2011

This past weekend the Colgate community celebrated its third annual Gospel Fest concert with Grammy Award winner Kirk Franklin. Colgate Memorial Chapel was filled with students and local residents for this spirit-filled event. Choirs from eight colleges and universities, including our own Sojourners, came together to form a 150 person mass choir. For hours we all danced in the aisles to the soul-stirring music, not wanting the night to end. For more information on religious life at Colgate click here.

when is gospel fest 2012? and will kirk franklin be there again?

      Hi Chris,

Thank you for your post. Gospel Fest is scheduled for the middle of February next year, but I don’t believe a date is set at this time.

As for Kirk, unfortunately, he can’t make it this year. The Sojourners plan to host the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. If you’re in town, you should definitely attend.

      Happy holidays,

    Hi Stella,

I see that you have a strong interest in gospel music. Gospel Fest is an annual event hosted by Colgate’s gospel choir, the Sojourners. Throughout the year they participate in multiple events across campus, but Gospel Fest is their signature program. Along with gospel music, Colgate students are heavily involved in a variety of activities related to the performing arts. I’m always amazed by the level of talent demonstrated throughout our community.

    Take care,

    Hi Stella,

Thanks for reading our blog. The concert was absolutely amazing. Kirk was approachable and stayed behind to greet his fans. He even gave me a compliment on my sneakers! I can’t wait for Gospel Fest 2012.
